
Biography
Born in Cassino in 1999, Virgilio Volante began studying piano under Giovanni Valle. He graduated with honors and distinction in both the First and Second Level Academic Diplomas in Piano at the “Licinio Refice” Conservatory of Frosinone and the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Milan, studying with Carlo Negroni and Silvia Limongelli. He also earned a First Level Diploma in Composition with honors under Riccardo Santoboni.
He attended advanced courses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana (Lilya Zilberstein), the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo (Pavel Gililov), and the Imola International Academy “Incontri col Maestro” (Boris Petrushansky, Ingrid Fliter, Igor Roma). He further enriched his training through masterclasses with Enrico Pieranunzi, Bruno Tommaso, Barry Harris, Ivan Fedele, and others.
Volante has won prizes in numerous national and international competitions, including the UK International Music Competition (1st Prize and “Expressive Performance” Special Award), Erik Satie International Music Competition (Platinum Award), Muse International Music Competition (2nd Prize), and Franz Liszt Center International Piano Competition (3rd Prize).
He has performed extensively across Italy and abroad — in Rome, Milan, Naples, Florence, Pescara, Bacau (Romania), and L’Escala (Spain) — for prestigious festivals and venues such as Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti, Piano City Milano, Piano City Napoli, and Atina Jazz.
Volante also works as a collaborative pianist, composer, and teacher, combining classical and modern repertoires. His compositions are published by Valle Giovanni Edizioni Musicali and available on major digital platforms.
